He ran away from home not wanting to become an engineer with just 700 rupees in his pocket, he went to Mumbai where he became a student of Suresh Wadkar
He has also hosted the Kannada reality show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa on Zee Kannada
He visits Thirupati every year
Prakash made it to the mega-finals of Sa Re Ga Ma Hindi in 1999
He met his wife Mahati in the recording studio, she was an established voice artist by then
"Jai Ho" the song he was part of , won the 2008 Academy Award, the song also won him a Grammy Award
He has also performed in Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Marathi movies.
Both his father and mother are classical Carnatic singers
