Biography Ravindra Prasad Patnaik is a South Indian music composer, singer, writer, director, producer with about 60 films to his credits in three south Indian languages (Telugu, Tamil and Kannada).
He tried civil services exams but could not clear preliminaries
Patnaik came to film industry to become a director, but by chance he got into music direction in which he excelled, later in his career he has taken up direction
He is a member of Grammy Academy
He has won 3 Filmfare Awards & 3 state Nandi Awards
He won Filmfare wards consecutively for 3 years for Nuvvu Nenu, Santosham and Excuse Me
Controversy: He wrote a feiry letter asking why he wasn't invited from the Telugu industry for the 100th year celebration of Indian Cinema, there were 600 invited fom Telugu Cinema and RP wasn't one of them despite being a member and president of many unions
Patnaik has sung for many major composers in around 300 songs.
He has introduced about 25 singers to the film industry
In an interview he mentioned that he prefers Telugu speaking singers in his songs than the others as there will be originality
Patnaik made a short movie named 22 minutes early in his career to test his skills as a director
