Biography

Rohini is a South Indian actress, writer, dubbing artist and director. She mainly works in Tamil, Telugu & Malayalam movies. She has contributed to more than 150 movies. She is a recipient of many awards including the best actress award.

Childhood, Family & Personal Life

Rohini was born on 15 December 1969 in Chennai, Tamil Nadu to parents hailing from Anakapalli, Andhra Pradesh.

Her mother died when Rohini was just five years old. Her father was a village panchayat officer, her father was the one who inspired her to take acting, he wanted to be an actor himself but could not because of his responsibilities.

Education: She studied till 12th, she discontinued after that seeking a career in films.

Love, Marriage & Divorce: Rohini & Raghuvaran married in 1996, they had a son Rishi Varan in 1998, the relationship fell apart later and they got divorced in 2004.

Career

Rohini started as a child artist through the film Yashoda Krishna(1975) a Telugu film directed by C. S. Rao with S.V.Ranga Rao, Jamuna in the lead. She starred plenty of movies as a child artist in both Telugu & Malayalam.

As a writer: She wrote lyrics of the movie Pachaikili Muthucharam(2007). She penned lyrics for the album Maalai Pozhudhin Mayakathilaey as well. She writes story and screenplay for Tamil TV serials as well.

On TV: She is involved with TV as a writer, host, actress. Some of her TV appearances include:

  • Verukku Neer(2005): She adapted the novel into serial.
  • Kelvigal Aayiram(Vijay TV): Live TV talk show where she talked about life issues with viewers
  • Azhagiya Tamizh Magal (Kalaignar TV): She moderated this show.
  • Rohini’s Box Office(Raj TV): As an anchor & reviewer of the films.
